Protecting yourself and your clients

Scams targeting mortgage brokers and borrowers are becoming increasingly sophisticated. Better Choice is committed to helping brokers and borrowers recognise and respond to fraudulent activity — and to protecting the personal and financial information of everyone we work with.

Better Choice will never ask you or your clients to transfer funds to a personal bank account, provide login credentials via email or SMS, or make urgent payment requests outside of your normal application process.

Common warning signs

Be alert to the following warning signs of fraudulent activity:
• Unsolicited calls or emails requesting personal or financial information
• Requests to urgently transfer funds or change bank account details
• Emails from addresses that don’t match our official domain
• Pressure to act quickly without time to verify
• Requests for MyGov, ATO, or banking login credentials
• Unusual requests relating to your loan that don’t follow normal process
